6. Do I Need A Logo?

Summary:

If you're hiring a designer, then yes, you want a logo. You want a graphical representation of your business because you're paying for it, but don't make the amateur mistake of having a designer do one logo for you.

Here's what you'll discover:

  • I don't mean trying out a bunch of different concepts before you decide on one. What I mean is having a logo concept executed across multiple compositions.

  • Your logo is going to be used in different ways, so it needs to be setup to accommodate those different usages. From a seal or a stamp, to signage that you might put up, to your website.

  • Now that's advice for those of you hiring a designer. If you're not in that group, you're doing this yourself, then do yourself a favor and don't create your own logo. Just don't, instead, choose a good font, a good color scheme, and commit to it.
